Adoption Cats

All of our adoption kitties are hosted at Cafe Cocoa in Redmond. Cocoa was one of our adoption cats that was returned to us after a debilitating cancer diagnosis. She was only eight years old, and the family couldn’t bear the emotional burden with their young children. Our beloved Cocoa lived with us full of life and happiness for four more months, and passed away the day we signed our lease to the Redmond cafe space. We named the cafe in her honor; it is a safe, home-like environment where senior and shy cats can roam and relax until they find the perfect family to adopt them. With just a $10 donation fee, visitors get a complimentary warm or cold beverage, can sit in front of the fireplace, enjoy the perks of free Wi-Fi, and cuddle with adoptable cats! All donations go towards the care of our adoption cats.

Interested In Fostering?

The Whole Cat and Kaboodle has a foster-to-adopt program as well as just a foster roster for when you want to get your kitty fix. If you would like to be part of our foster roster, place fill out the information below and we will get in contact if we need anyone to foster the many kitties that come to our Cafe. NOTE: Submitting the form online does not guarantee that you will be fostering kitties right away. Kittens are less likely to need foster homes through our fostering program, however we do have a lot of cats who are special needs, have dietary restrictions, shy, or feral cats that needs homes with experienced fosters or pet owners.

What kind of kitties do you want to foster? *
We have a high need for experienced foster parents who can take on feral, special needs, and older cats (older adults and seniors). Since we at The Whole Cat & Kaboodle primarily work with these groups of cats, we will be taking into consideration people who are more willing to take feral, special needs, and older cats.
Compliances *
To support our mission, we have a few things that we hold to, and that we need our fosters to comply with to keep these kitties has healthy as they can be. Please direct any questions about these policies or exceptions to these policies to the Adoptions Coordinator(s). By filling out this application, you agree to comply with our policies. Please check yes to indicate that you understand the following: I will not allow this cat to be in a dangerous position, such as being allowed outside. Whenever this cat is transported anywhere, they will be in a carrier or on a secure harness and leash. This cat is up for adoption and is legally the property of its home shelter. To keep the cat beyond the agreement or giving the cat to someone else without adopting the cat is legally an act of theft, and I promise to return the cat to The Whole Cat on the agreed date. Cats are prey animals. I will start them in a small space with the door closed, and only when they are interested in exploring further than that space will I allow other household pets to introduce themselves or leave the door open to their space. Cats are obligate carnivores, and as such are built to eat meat and moisture. No dry food will be given to this cat. Some cats may be exempt of this rule, but only when specifically stated. I will only provide food that follows this model, and if there are issues of inappetence that last greater than 24 hours, I will call The Whole Cat during business hours to discuss options to get the cat to eat again. Unless otherwise specified, is this cat not allowed any treat with more than one ingredient. Under no circumstances should this cat be exposed to clay or crystal litter. The binder in clay and crystal litter is silica, and in clinical studies, silica has shown to cause intestinal blockages and lung problems over time. We require you use some kind of plant-based litter for the best health of the cat. It is my legal responsibility as a foster to care for this cat. Meals should be given at least twice a day in the specified amounts for this cat. Unless otherwise noted, the standard cat receives 3 oz, twice a day, and the standard kitten receives 3-6 oz, 2-3 times a day, depending on appetite level. Clean water should be available in a clean dish at all times.

Foster Agreement Specifications *
Foster Agreement Specifications
I as a foster parent understand that filling out this form is considered to be a legal agreement between myself and The Whole Cat & Kaboodle. I understand that I can call the store(s) any time I am in need of advice while fostering their cat, and am able to get help with any behavior modification as well as dietary needs. I understand that foster cats from The Whole Cat & Kaboodle are owned by The Whole Cat & Kaboodle, and will abide by any rules that are required of me to foster any cats from The Whole Cat & Kaboodle. I understand that good examples of small spaces that I could use for my foster cat would be bedrooms, bathrooms, or closets. I understand that I do not want to use a room for a foster pet that my resident pet (if applicable) will be upset to not be allowed access to, and will be mindful when choosing a designated safe space for my foster cat. I WILL NOT put my foster cat in a laundry room, rooms with loud machinery, or any room with loud noises that could stress out my foster cat. I understand that choosing a place for my foster cat to stay in is an important decision, and will allow my foster cat to retreat to their "home base" when they are scared. I understand that I am responsible for the care and wellbeing of my foster cat while it is in my care. I understand that I have no authority over veterinary or dietary choices for my foster cat while I am fostering. I understand that I can go to the Adoptions Coordinators if I need any veterinary care or dietary advice with my foster cat. I understand that I will be required to adopt my foster cat if I want to be the sole decision maker for my foster cat's veterinary care or diet, and also understand that if I adopt my cat from the foster program that I will be required to follow dietary guidelines for optimal care. I understand that I AM NOT allowed to feed my foster cat dry food, kibble or dry treats during my time fostering unless approved by the Adoption Coordinator(s) / Owner of The Whole Cat & Kaboodle. I understand that if my cat is not eating, I will have to ask the Adoptions Coordinator(s) for permission to try different options for food(s). I understand that the pungency of dry food can lead to pickiness where a cat might stop eating their healthy food. I understand that The Whole Cat & Kaboodle recommends the use of human-grade quality foods with no wheat, corn, or soy. Examples of brands that follow our guidelines with their canned diets include: Wellness, Fussie Cat or Weruva. I understand that I will be given the option to try a raw diet for my foster cat, and that The Whole Cat & Kaboodle will have the authority to ask that I feed my foster cat a raw diet if necessary for their foster cat's wellbeing. Examples of acceptable raw brands include but are not limited to: Natural Pet Pantry, Rad Cat and Darwin's. I understand that if I choose to give my foster cat treats, that they will be single ingredient only (example: Life Essentials Chicken or Salmon). I understand that treats are not a necessary part of a cat's diet, and that if I give my foster cat treats that they will be healthy treats. I understand that cats eat their litter, and will be required to use plant-based litter such as World's Best (corn), Smart Cat (grass) or Feline Pine (pine). I understand that I can come to the Adoptions Coordinators if my foster cat has allergies to any of the litters suggested above to come to a solution for my particular foster cat's needs. I understand that while I am a foster parent, that any supplies purchased from The Whole Cat & Kaboodle can be discounted by 20% ONLY while I have a foster cat. I understand that this discount may only be applied by Adoptions Coordinators, and must be approved each time I shop at any of The Whole Cat & Kaboodle stores. I understand that I am solely responsible for asking for the discount, and understand that I can call the Redmond store to get in contact with any Adoptions Coordinator(s) to approve my discount before coming into the store. I understand that if I go to any other store that I will have to have store employees confirm that I am fostering a cat before getting a discount. I understand that by providing my first and last name, and today's date, that this form is a legally binding contract and that I understand all of the services provided to me as a foster parent for The Whole Cat & Kaboodle.
